What it is

Vedaone is made by Atrey Pharmaceuticals, an Ahmedabad, Gujarat-based maker of Ayurvedic, herbal and cosmetic products, which sells under two names, VEDAONE and MINTAAZ.

Clove oil smells like the kirambu from the masala dabba, crushed between two fingers, only far stronger: warm, sweet and sharp. A drop or two in a diffuser fills a room, and for anything on skin it must be mixed into a carrier oil first. It is not a cooking ingredient. Choosing between Vedaone oils? Clove for a warm, spicy smell; eucalyptus for a sharp, fresh one; sandalwood for a soft, woody one.

Tip: Put two drops on a cotton ball inside a wardrobe or drawer. The clove smell lasts for days.
