What it is

Narasu's was set up in Salem in 1926 by V Lakshmi Narasimhan, known as Narasu, who gave the brand his name. 2026 is its 100th year.

Peaberry is the coffee bean that grows as a single round seed inside the cherry, instead of the usual two flat halves. The peaberries are sorted out and roasted on their own, and the cup tends to come out denser and rounder. This pack is ground for the steel filter. Choosing between Narasu's coffees? Peaberry for a fuller cup; Udhayam for the everyday filter blend; Insta Strong when there is no time for the filter.

Tip: Spoon the powder in loosely. Pressed down hard, it drips too slowly and the decoction turns bitter.
