What it is
Heera is the main brand of P&B (Foods) Ltd, a Bradford-based company that describes itself as one of the largest independent wholesale distributors of Asian foods across Britain and Europe. This is its jawantry, whole mace blades in a 50 g bag.
Mace is the lacy orange-red covering around the nutmeg seed. It smells like nutmeg but warmer and more delicate, and one blade is enough for a whole pot of biryani or mutton korma. Choosing between warm spices? Mace for biryani and korma; Heera Green Cardamon for sweets and chai; Heera Cinnamon Sticks for pulao and everyday masala.
Tip: Break off a thumbnail-sized piece, not a whole blade, the first time. Mace is strong and easy to overdo.
Goes well with: Heera Bay Leaves, Heera Black Cardamom, Daawat Original Basmati Rice
