What it is

Andhra murukku is the hotter end of the murukku family, pressed from the same rice and gram flour base and then carrying considerably more chilli than the Tamil versions do.

It is a regional style rather than a shape, so the coil looks much like any other murukku until you bite it. Choosing between the murukku? Andhra for chilli, poondu for garlic, thenkuzhal when you want the plain hollow one everybody eats.

Tip: Serve it with something cold rather than hot coffee, and put the milder tin out beside it.
