What it is

Adyar Ananda Bhavan was founded by K.S. Thirupathi Raja, who started out making sweets in Rajapalayam, so a Rajapalayam karasev from them is close to its roots. The name A2B comes from its outlet in Adyar, Chennai.

Karasev is a thick, rough sev: a gram flour dough pressed through a large-holed plate, fried, and broken into short, knobbly sticks. It is traditionally spiced with pepper and chilli, sometimes garlic, and has a loud crunch. Choosing between A2B savouries? Karasev for coarse and spicy; ribbon pakoda for thin and crisp; Madras mixture for a bit of everything.
