What it is

Thenkuzhal is the plain white murukku of Tamil Nadu: rice flour, urad (black lentil) flour, salt and butter, pressed into spirals and fried. The mini size is easy to snack on and fits in a lunchbox. For more spice, try mullu murukku; for a richer bite, butter murukku.

How to use

1. Serve straight from the pack with tea or coffee.
2. Break a handful over a bowl of rasam rice for crunch.
3. Reseal or tip into an airtight tin after opening.

Tip: Warm a handful in a dry pan for 30 seconds. It brings back the just-fried crunch.
