What it is
Adyar Ananda Bhavan was founded by K.S. Thirupathi Raja, who started out making sweets in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. The brand takes its name from its outlet in Adyar, Chennai, and now has branches in several countries.
Kara boondi is batter dropped through a slotted ladle into hot oil, fried into tiny crisp pearls and tossed with chilli and salt. It is a snack on its own, and at home it goes on top of curd rice or into raita. Choosing between A2B savouries? Kara boondi for small, spicy crunch; Madras mixture for a bit of everything; mini thattai for flat, crisp bites.
Tip: Stir a handful into cold curd with salt just before serving. It becomes boondi raita in one minute.
Goes well with: A2B Madras Mixture, A2B Mini Thattai, Narasus Udhayam Filter Coffee
