A2B, Adyar Ananda Bhavan, grew from K.S. Thirupathi Raja's sweet-making in Rajapalayam into a Chennai name with branches abroad. Mini thattai is their thattai made small: thin, crisp discs shrunk to a bite, small enough to go in a child's snack box.

Thattai is traditionally made from rice flour with a little dal, spices and curry leaves, pressed thin and fried until crisp. These are the same idea in a size you eat by the handful. Choosing between thattais? Mini for handfuls and lunchboxes; the regular A2B thattai for the classic flat disc; pepper thattai for more heat.

Tip: Toss a handful into a bowl of mixture. Mini thattai sits right in with the boondi and peanuts.
