What it is

Elanthai vadai is a Tamil Nadu village snack made from ilandhai, the small Indian jujube. The fruit is pounded with chilli and salt, pressed into little flat rounds and dried, and it was sold in twists of paper at petty shops and outside schools.

It is sour, salty and chilli-hot all at once, and chewy enough that one piece lasts a while. This pack keeps the seed in, so there is a hard bit to work around, just like the ones from home.
