What it is

Vedaone is made by Atrey Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., an Ahmedabad, Gujarat-based manufacturer of Ayurvedic, herbal and cosmetic products. Moringa is the drumstick tree, Moringa oleifera, and its small leaves are murungai keerai, called shigru in Ayurvedic texts.

The powder is dark green with the grassy, slightly bitter taste of the fresh leaves. With no tree in the back garden, a spoon of this is the easy way to get murungai keerai into rasam, adai batter or chapati dough. Choosing between moringa products? This powder for stirring into dishes; Health Basket moringa powder in a smaller pack; Grand Sweets murungai keerai thokku, ready to mix with rice.

Tip: Stir it into the rasam after you turn off the heat. Boiling turns the green dull and the taste flat.

Goes well with: 777 Madras Rasam Powder, Health Basket Murungai Adai Keerai Mix, Grand Sweets Murungai Keerai Thokku
