What it is

Sweet Karam Coffee started in a Chennai home in 2015, built around the recipes of Janaki Paati, the grandmother who made the family's Deepavali sweets.

Mysorepak, the story goes, was first made in the Mysore palace kitchen. This is the soft version, the kind that melts rather than crumbles, with 6% mango pulp through it. Choosing a mysorepak? This soft one if you like it fudgy; the classic soft mysorepak without mango; or GRB crispy mysore pak for the porous, crunchy kind.

Tip: Keep it out of the fridge. Cold ghee sweets go hard and lose their smell.
