What it is

Makhana, or phool makhana, are the popped seeds of the fox nut, a water lily grown mostly in the ponds of Bihar. Roasting turns them light and crisp, and families across North India eat them in kheer, in curries and simply roasted in a kadai with a little ghee and salt.

This is the plainest of Swaad's range: just salt and black pepper, so you taste the makhana itself, a little nutty and very light. Choosing between Swaad makhana? Salt & Pepper for plain, Pudina for cool and fresh, Peri Peri for heat. Or buy loose makhana and roast your own.
