What it is

Makhana, or fox nuts, are the popped seeds of a water lily grown in ponds, mostly in Bihar. The traditional way is to toss them in ghee or cook them into kheer. This pack takes them somewhere else entirely, with peri peri seasoning, the hot and tangy chilli flavour better known on chicken.

They are airy and crisp, with a hot, tangy coating that builds as you go. Not traditional, and nobody seems to mind. Choosing between Swaad makhana? Peri Peri for heat; Achari for pickle-sour; Salt & Pepper for plain and peppery.

Tip: Warm them in a dry pan for a minute before the film starts. Warm makhana crunch better.
