What it is
Manna was started in Chennai in 2000 by I.S.A.K. Nazar, and its first product was a health mix based on sathumaavu, the Tamil multigrain porridge mix. Manna's maker, Southern Health Foods, was acquired by Reliance Consumer Products in February 2026.
Kezhvaragu is ground here after the grain has been sprouted, the old way. The flour is fine and brick-brown, with a mild, earthy taste. Choosing between ragi? Sprouted flour for kali, koozh and porridge; ragi vermicelli for a quick breakfast; ready ragi dosa mix when there is no time to ferment.
Tip: For ragi kali, keep stirring with the back of a wooden spoon until the dough stops sticking to it.
Goes well with: Grand Sweets Kara Kozhambu, Native Food Store Jaggery Powder, Prestige Cast Iron Dosa Tawa
