What it is

Manna was started in Chennai in 2000 by I.S.A.K. Nazar, and its first product was a health mix based on sathumaavu, the traditional Tamil multigrain porridge mix. iStrong is a newer drink from the same kitchen, and Manna sells it as a drink mix made with women in mind.

It is a malted millet powder with chocolate, stirred into milk until the cup turns cocoa brown. It tastes of chocolate and toasted grain, a little heartier than a plain malt drink. Choosing between Manna drinks? iStrong Chocolate for a cocoa cup; Manna iStrong Caramel for a toffee-like one; Manna Ragi Malt for plain ragi.

Tip: Make a paste with two spoons of cold milk first, then pour in the rest. No lumps.
