What it is

Manna was started in Chennai in 2000 by I.S.A.K. Nazar, and its first product was a health mix based on sathumaavu, the traditional Tamil multigrain porridge mix. Manna's maker, Southern Health Foods, was acquired by Reliance Consumer Products in February 2026.

This is cane jaggery in powder form, so it measures by the spoon and dissolves quickly, with no block to break. It tastes of caramel and molasses, warmer than white sugar. Choosing between jaggeries? Manna powder for quick stirring; Sri Durga Jaggery Balls for traditional sweets; Palm Era palm jaggery for a darker, smoky taste.

Tip: Add jaggery to payasam only after taking it off the heat. Boiling it with milk can make the milk split.
