Laxminarayan Best Chiwda has been made in Pune since 1945, founded by Laxminarayanji Data. The family shop is in Bhavani Peth, the business is now in its third generation, and Pune knows its chiwda by the red packets.

This is the cornflake version: cornflakes in peanut oil with peanuts, cashews, raisins and sesame, seasoned with turmeric, red chilli, salt and a little sugar. Crunchy, sweet and salty at once, with a mild heat. Choosing between chiwdas? Laxminarayan cornflakes for sweet and crunchy; Chitale Bandhu Patal Poha Chivda for thin and light; Chitale Bandhu Potato Chivda for salty and savoury.
