What it is

GRB began in 1984 with G.R. Balasubramaniam delivering butter around Bengaluru on a bicycle, and grew into a ghee maker. Ghee is still what the name stands for in most South Indian kitchens.

It has the cooked, slightly nutty smell of ghee made the way it is at home. The 200 ml tin is the small one, enough for a festival week of pongal, sweets and a spoon over hot rice. Choosing between ghee? GRB 200 ml to try it or for a small kitchen; GRB 500 ml or 1 kg for regular use; Amul for a milder taste.

Tip: Pour a little over a hot dosai as it crisps on the tawa, the ghee roast way.
