What it is

Sona masoori is a light, medium-grain rice grown across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Kurnool on the pack points to Andhra, where it is the everyday plate rice in most homes, eaten twice a day.

It cooks up soft and separate, with a faint aroma, and it does not sit heavy. This is the rice for pappu and ghee, sambar sadam, rasam and a plate of curd rice. Choosing between everyday rices?
