What it is

Cothas was founded in 1949 by Sri Krishnaiah Chetty in Bangalore, and it still roasts and grinds filter coffee. The Speciality Blend is 85% coffee and 15% chicory, ground for a steel filter.

Low on chicory, so the decoction is clean and tastes of coffee rather than thick and bitter, yet it still stands up to plenty of hot milk. The 184 g pack is a good way to try it before the bigger one. Choosing between filter coffees? Cothas 85:15 for more coffee taste; Kumbakonam Degree 70:30 or 60:40 for a thicker, darker cup with more chicory.

Tip: Spoon the powder in loosely and don't press it down. Packed coffee drips too slowly and turns bitter.
