What it is

Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale was founded in Pune in 1950 by brothers Raghunath and Narsinha Chitale, and grew out of a dairy business their father B.G. Chitale started in 1939.

This is kaju burfi made with Alphonso mango pulp: cashews (32.8%) and sugar cooked with the mango, a touch of cardamom and mango flavouring, and topped with silver leaf. It is smooth and dense like kaju katli, with a mango sweetness. Choosing between Chitale sweets? Kaju amba burfi for mango; kaju elaichi katli for plain cashew and cardamom; a mango halwa for something softer.

Tip: Cut each piece in half before serving. It is rich, and more people get to try it.
