What it is
Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale was founded in Pune in 1950 by brothers Raghunath and Narsinha Chitale, and grew out of the dairy business their father B.G. Chitale started in 1939.
Farsan is what Gujarati and Marathi homes call their savoury snacks, and this mix has a bit of everything: fried besan pieces, chana dal, cornflakes, groundnuts, curry leaves and green chilli, with a little sugar, ajwain and aniseed coming through. Sweet, salty and spicy in one handful. Choosing between Chitale mixes? Farsan for everything at once; cornflakes chivda for a flakier crunch; masala shev when you only want the spicy strands.
Tip: Scatter a handful over kanda poha or upma just before serving, so it is still crunchy when it reaches the table.
Goes well with: Chitale Bandhu Bakarwadi, Heera Poha Medium, Everest Masala Tea
