What it is

Ching's Secret began in Mumbai in 1996, launched by Ajay Gupta's Capital Foods, and is best known for "Desi Chinese" (Indo-Chinese) sauces, masalas and noodles. The brand is now part of Tata Consumer Products.

These are the same plain hakka noodles as the smaller pack, in a 560 g bag for a family or a party. There is no sachet, so the flavour is whatever you toss them with. Choosing between Ching's noodles? This bag for big batches; the 140 g pack for a single dinner; the 60 g instant packs for a two-minute bowl.

Tip: For a party, boil the noodles an hour ahead, rinse cold and toss with oil. The stir fry then takes five minutes.
