What it is

Adyar Ananda Bhavan was founded by K.S. Thirupathi Raja, who started out making sweets in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. The brand is named after its outlet in Adyar, Chennai.

Ellu means sesame in Tamil, and ellu murukku has the seeds pressed through the dough, so each coil is flecked with seeds and tastes nuttier and toastier than a plain murukku. It is one of the snacks made in bulk before Deepavali and Karthigai. Choosing between A2B murukkus? Ellu for nutty and toasty; butter murukku for soft and rich; mullu murukku for spiky and loud.
