What it is
Sowbaghya was founded in Chennai in 1978, and the company says it was the first wet grinder maker in India to get ISO 9001 certification from TUV Germany. Alongside grinders, it makes everyday Tamil kitchenware.
The anjarai petti is the round steel box that sits beside every South Indian stove. Seven bowls under one lid hold the spices that go in daily: mustard, urad, cumin, turmeric, chilli, coriander and one more of your own. One small spoon does the measuring. Choosing kitchen steel? The spice box for tempering; the idli cooker for weekend batter; the paniyaram pan for leftover batter.
Tip: Refill one bowl at a time, and dry it fully first. Damp steel makes turmeric clump.
Goes well with: Heera Black Mustard Seeds, 777 Turmeric Powder, Heera Cumin (Jeera) Whole
