What it is

Prestige is the flagship brand of TTK Prestige, part of the TTK Group founded in 1928 by T.T. Krishnamachari. TTK Prestige began making pressure cookers in India in 1959, in technical collaboration with the Prestige Group of the UK.

Eight litres is the big one: the pot for a Sunday sambar, a kilo of toor dal, or biryani for a house full of people. It is stainless steel with an induction base, so it works on an induction hob. Choosing between cookers? This 8 litre for a family or batch cooking; the Prestige Popular Plus 3 litre for one or two people; an idli cooker for weekend tiffin.

Tip: Cook dal in a steel tin inside the cooker with rice around it. One set of whistles, two dishes done.
