What it is

GRB began in 1984 with G.R. Balasubramaniam delivering butter around Bengaluru on a bicycle, and it went on to become a ghee maker. This mix is from its breakfast range.

Rava idli is the quick idli: no grinding and no overnight fermenting. The mix is mostly semolina (84%), with chana dal, cashew, curry leaves, mustard, green chilli and ginger already in, so every idli comes out flecked and fragrant. Choosing between mixes? GRB or MTR rava idli for a soft semolina idli; GRB ragi dosa mix when you want dosa instead.

Tip: Press a cashew into the bottom of each mould before the batter goes in, the way the tiffin rooms do.
