What it is

Cookd is a Chennai brand founded in 2020 by Aathitiyan V.S. It started out with chef-led recipe videos before making biryani kits, masalas and cooking pastes.

Bhai biryani is the name Chennai gives to the biryani cooked at Muslim weddings, the one people still talk about after the function. Cookd makes its Wedding Bhai version with basmati, fragrant and milder than the seeraga samba biryanis. It works with chicken, mutton, paneer or vegetables. Choosing between Cookd pastes? Wedding Bhai for a festive basmati pot; Ambur for red chilli heat; Dindigul for pepper.

Tip: Scatter fried onions and a handful of mint over the rice before the final 10 minutes. That is the wedding smell.
