What it is
Aashirvaad is owned by ITC and was launched in 2002, and its packs are known for their Madhubani-style art of rural farming scenes. Chakki atta is whole wheat flour ground in a chakki, the flour mill, and it is what most North Indian homes use for rotis every day.
It kneads to a soft dough that rolls out thin without tearing, puffs well for phulkas and fries into pooris that hold their shape. The 2 kg bag suits a smaller kitchen or anyone who makes chapati a few nights a week. Choosing between flours? Chakki atta for chapati and poori; Aashirvaad multigrain for a nuttier roti; Aashirvaad besan for bajji and pakoda.
Tip: For pooris, knead the dough stiffer than for chapati. They puff better and drink less oil.
Goes well with: GRB Pure Ghee, Heera Kala Chana, MDH Kasoori Methi
