What it is
Manna was started in Chennai in 2000 by I.S.A.K. Nazar, and its first product was a health mix based on sathumaavu, the traditional Tamil multigrain porridge mix.
Kuthiraivali is a tiny, pale millet that cooks soft and fluffy in about the time rice takes, or less. In the North it is samak or sanwa, eaten on vrat days. This smaller bag is a good way to try it before committing to a kilo. Choosing a millet? Barnyard for the softest; kodo (varagu) for a firmer bite; foxtail (thinai) for a nuttier taste.
Tip: Swap it straight in for rice in your usual ven pongal, with an extra half cup of water.
Goes well with: Heera Moong Dal Washed, Heera Black Pepper Whole, Heera Curry Leaves
