What it is

Sona masoori is a medium-grain rice grown mainly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, and it is the everyday plate rice across much of the South.

It is light and slender with very little aroma, and it cooks soft while the grains stay apart for rasam and curd rice. Choosing between rice? Sona masoori for daily meals; Heera Ponni Boiled Rice - 10Kg for a heavier grain that holds its shape; Laila Basmati Rice 5kg for pulao.

Tip: Soak it for 20 minutes and use a little less water. The grains come out softer and fewer of them break.
